What the job
involved
The house had a set of doors opening onto nothing. A metre of lawn, an old pile of pavers stacked to one side, and a drop that made the back of the house useless for anything except looking at.
The deck follows the length of the brick wall rather than sitting square to it, so the steps could run the full width instead of pinching into a single flight. That is a more expensive way to build a deck and a much better way to use one, because the whole edge becomes somewhere to sit.
Joists and bearers went in first, boards after, and the corners are mitred rather than butted. Nobody notices a mitred corner. Everybody notices a butted one that has opened up.
