What the job
involved
This is what a serious renovation actually looks like in the middle. Ceilings open to the rafters, linings off, the original wallpaper still on the one wall nobody has reached yet.
The internal walls that came out were doing work, so the roof went onto adjustable steel props before anything was cut. Props are not decoration: they are the difference between opening a house up and dropping a roof into it.
Underneath, the piles were past saving. The floor came up, new bearers went in, and the house was re-levelled before a single new lining went back on. There is no point putting a new kitchen into a house that is still moving.
On site
In order, as it happened.
